Did you know?
Coffee is the world trading system's second most valuable legal commodity (behind oil), with over 10 billion pounds exported each year from over 70 countries. In 1996, the export of coffee beans brought almost $2 billion to the people of Colombia and $2.4 billion to the people of Brazil.

There say things comes in 3's, well thus far this year, I have had a narrow escape with the bonnet of my previous Renault Clio releasing itself without warning.  I now have had a type puncture, what's next - hopefully nothing!

This time, it was tyre damage (on 14th Sept) - actually a sliced tyre to be precise, after I had to attempt to swerve around a drain-cover which had been dislodged and was protruding afterwards.  Unfortunately, as an on-going car was appearing, I inadvertently must have brushed along side the edge of the protruding cover, and whilst turning onto the main road, I definitely felt something wrong...

I assumed it must have been a puncture, so having found a location to stop. I inspected and notice it indeed was a puncture.  The challenge appeared to be how to operate the ruddy jack - all new cars seem to have changed it, as the old ones appeared straightforward to use, these new ones god knows how to use them!  Anyway, I happened to be just outside a timber merchant, and a couple of workers managed to use a "professional" jack and help me change the tyre - I was down £5 already for their help!

I managed to get a new tyre ordered from a local garage, and got the tracking done from Tates Renault - as I had to visit them for some other bits and pieces regarding my car.  Total costs were over £131.46 (that's a new tyre for £81.48 and tracking £49.98 (which definitely was a rip-off!)).

Anyway, as I felt that the costs (replacement tyre and tracking) should be picked up by the WSCC, I attempted to claim the full costs back.  Their refuted the claim advising me that the Statuary Defence of annual monitoring and the fact that they repaired the damaged drain cover after I reported it, means that they are not able to accept any responsibility!  Can you believe this?  If you fall down on a broken paving slab, you can sue, but if your car is damaged in a similar type of circumstance, they go by this "defence".  Can I really be bothered to go through the courts - especially if they hide behind this defence?

I now need to think what I should do next!?
