This sport was originally known as football in England, at least until the advent of rugby (a variant of soccer/football) which led to some confusion of names. The game soon became known as association football to distinguish it from rugby. Eventually it became known as football or soccer. The name soccer actually comes from the second syllable of the word association. The name soccer was adopted in North America to differentiate the sport from other forms of football played in the U.S. and Canada.

In November last year, I was managing the project to certify the Iceland Express low-cost airline merchant to accept AXP cards for Direct Sales and for their Internet site.

This was a speedy certification project and for my involvement, I received a GBP £500 Rings of Rewards and Recognition (R&R) from the head of the GNS Airlines groups.  I was keen to find a date when I could schedule the trip, but with lots of intensive work in-between, I decided to wait and look at a trip in early 2006.  Before I realised it, 2006 was progressing very quickly, so a few weeks back I took the plunge and decided to book the flights ticket (via Iceland Express, obviously!) and a stay at 101 Hotel in Iceland - for late May this year.

Unfortunately, the flight was approx. £444 meaning I only had £56 for the hotel costs from the R&R, so had to cover the difference personally.  Not too bad, but I was a bit mifted why the flight was so expensive - especially since I could have flown via BA for about £100 per person.  Silly me, I should have done so regardless of the R&R package.  Ho-well - a lesson learnt!

So Iceland, here I come (soon!)

Iceland Trip

Having just come back from the trip to Reykjavik, Iceland, I must say how great the trip went.
