Island Hop 7 - Sifnos

I decided to spend my last weekend of the work assignment in Sifnos. I was recommended to visit this island, and decided it was definitely worth a trip. Another island part of the "Cyclades".

A very tranquil and very traditional Cycladic architectural island, and one which hasn't become too touristy yet!

In summary, we had a very "hot" (46-47^oC) and relaxing time!

We stayed in a Studio Apartment in Apollonia - called "Nikoleta Studios" - very nice accommodation indeed.

Apollonia

Apollonia is the Capital of Sifnos and is located in the centre of the island. It is a town that has grown together with a number of the surrounding villages: Artemonas to the north, with Katavathi and Pano Petali to the South.

We took time to stroll through Apollonia's stone-paved streets and lanes surrounded by classic architecture.

Kastro

Kastro is the most ancient village of Sifnos. It is built like a castle with a few entrances to the village. The village is skirmished on a hill in the center of the east coast and it has maintained an interesting medieval style. It has an excellent panoramic view to the ocean!

Kamares

The High-Speed Fast Ferry and Flying Dolphin arrives and departs from the Kamares - the sole port on the Island. Kamares had the hustle and bustle of the port, but also the fantastic beach and shallow waters to enjoy!

Chrysopigi

Near to the Faros Village, is the entrance to the Chrysopigi cove, a small tranquil beach and the location of the old monastery of the "Virgin Mary of Chrysopigi" built on a rocky peninsula separated from the main land by a narrow strip of sea.
