I stayed in Astir Thira hotel, just outside of the main town of Thira - the capital of Santorini. I had a view of the Caldera (the volcano lava flows) - the Kameni Islands.

During the first few days, I decided to wander around (walking) to visit some of towns on the Northern part of Thira City. I visited Firostefani and also Imerovigli. Imerovigli had a nice view over the Caldera - with a rock formation slightly away from the main shoreline - reachable via a short rocky path.

Thira is also famous for the "Old Port" - which was the main port prior to the arrival of the new port down the coastline. The "Old Port" is still the location for some of the more touristy-ships, and where some of the cruise boats arrive.

More commonly known by the manner in which you reach the Old Port, reachable by about 500 or so steps. You can walk down and up again - or go via donkey's, or chose the more modern Cable Car.

During the week, I decided to have another walk around the middle half of the island. I walked towards Imerovigli town again, but took a detour to visit Vourvoulos and it's Beach on the East-Coast.

I took a coach (bus) ride to the north-west coast of Santorini - to the town of Oia and its small port called Ammoudi - both overlooking the Caldera. Oia is famous for it's breathtaking sunset views!

I decided to venture south towards the latter part of my week's holiday, and headed for Messaria town. I then walked towards Monolithos Beach and stayed for lunch, before heading back towards Thira.

On the way back to Thira, I decided to actually take a detour, and headed towards Vothonas, before heading towards Pyrgos, a Town with an infamous vantage point - in short a panoramic view of the north, south, east and west of the Island. Fantastic!
