Images of the "Monas" (acronym from Monumen Nasional (National Monument)). Standing at 137-metres tall, this marble obelisk is topped with a flame coated with 35-kilograms of gold. This imposing obelisk is Jakarta's most famous landmark and is a symbol of Indonesian nationalism.

Tangkubanparahu (also known as Tangkuban Perahu) is an active strato-volcano within the Sunda Caldera, west of the Island of Java. The volcano's low profile is the subject of legends referring to the mountain of the "upturned boat" - and has become a tourist hot-spot (no pun intended)!

The menu for the famour "Surabi" - the Javanese pancake. You choose your own topping, from traditional flavor 'till international. From oncom [Sundanese tempe] to sausage, cheese and chocolate toppings. The place is like a hawker stall-turn small restaurant.

We had a family meal in the 'Bandar Djakarta' restaurant. This restaurant overlooks the Ancol Bay, and has a wide choice of fresh (and fabulous!) seafood.
