China Town at Night

Like any City’s China Town, Singapore’s China Town certainly does come to life at night…especially, when it is the Mid-Autumn Festival.  Most places are full of moon-cakes, in preparation for the main holiday celebrations on 12th September 2011.  Singapore will no doubt be celebrating this holiday period in style – like it does for many of the other cultures that exist in this amazing Country; others included Hari Raya Puasa (end of Ramadan), Hari Raya Haji, Deepavali, Vesak Day and Christmas, to name the key ones!

Whilst my mum is visiting, we decided to take the opportunity to visit China Town, visiting along Pagoda Street, Mosque Street and Smith (Food) Street.  My mum had Durian Ice Kachang, whilst I had Lemon Jelly Ice – very refreshing indeed!

We also walked passed, pausing to watch with interest some (Chinese) people playing Drafts and Chinese Chess – very entertaining.  One of them even started to sing, when I started to take photos – ha!  Dunno what he was singing, but it was quite humorous! 🙂
