One Week In – and I must admit that I have thoroughly enjoying the experience. So far, I’ve managed to settle-in into my apartment, generally get around the area and commute to the office without much hassle. I’ve found some nice eating establishments that are pretty reasonable – especially the food courts 🙂 – I’ve managed to chat to a load of fun people, a few I chatted to last Friday at the Muddy’s Irish Pub, and most recently yesterday, with quite a few of the Amex team here in Singapore.
In fact, I was very fortunate to arrive when I did – because there was a Amex Singapore Global Leaders Forum where representatives from the various business groups were represented. So not only was this a great opportunity to mingle with my colleagues in GNS, but also to participate in a networking forum with the wider business and senior leadership teams – including the Country Manager of Singapore.
Anyway, great networking opportunity (one of the key aims of the GRP) and I enjoyed the various drinks and pool afterwards too. It was actually good to speak with the folks who lingered behind for a few follow-up drinks, because they gave me great advise on places to visit and things to see and do. I sense Rock Climbing is in store for next Saturday (and appears to be every Saturday) to start with, and some other activities to follow shortly thereafter.
For today (Saturday), well I want to visit probably the Singapore Botanic Gardens and a few other touristy places in and around the City. If I can at least get some of that sorted, I can then start planning my side-trips to Vietnam, Chambodia, Laos, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and so on – all with the aim of spending a nice long weekend in these fantastic places. Plenty of planning required methinks – including flight times, costs, advance booking etc 🙂
