Menara Maybank to Millennium Hotel – Walking, Are We Mad?

It was coming onto 6pm, and we finished our meetings quite late, and we were waiting for about 25 minutes for an empty taxi to take us back to our Millennium Hotel (which failed to arrive).  So we decided that if we were every going to make it back for an early dinner, we had to try to walk to the hotel.

Initially, we walked along Jalan Tun Perak, and reach the junction with Jalan Ampang – at the Masjib Jamek Moto-Rail station.  Looking at the map I had with me, we then realised that we were heading North-West and needed to head South-East – whoops… that wasn’t a good start!

We turned back and eventually manage to join the Julan Raja Chulan road – we actually missed the junction quite early on – as it was actually one block down from Menara Maybank.  Hey-ho, you can’t say we didn’t do some exercise during this trip!  Anyway, whilst we started walked, I started realising that I was getting very warm (don’t worry I hadn’t peed myself), and it was still a fair walk to the hotel.

I had a further look at the map and managed to see a short-cut, so we decided to walk down Julan Changkat Raja Chulan.  We then noticed that this road linked into what appeared to be a Bar/Restaurant district, along Julan Changkat Bukit Bintang.  There was an Italian restaurant called Ciccio, there was a couple of Tapas bars, a couple of mediocre-looking bars (at least from the outside) – including Irish Bars.  I think we will come back here, once I’ve had a shower and refreshed myself! 🙂

Anyway, we continued down and turned along Julan Bukit Bintang, which I recognised is the main road that the hotel was located on.  We actually recognised the area by the smell – from the Durian stalls at the street-side – we eventually made it back to the hotel, and I had to hurry along to the hotel for 2 key reasons…needed a pee, and desperately need to shower.  My shirt was soaked through!  Well I’ve done my exercise for the week – ha! 🙂
