Well I’ve already seen hawker stalls selling nothing else but Durian, I’ve even seen Durian-filled lorries being driven around around town before to replenish stock in the hawker stalls and supermarkets – but I’ve never been to a road-side Durian Buffet ‘diner’ before 🙂
You can definitely comment that it was a Durian banquet! For only RM9 (about £2) per person for as much as you can eat (that’s a real bargain, ha!).
And me? Well I can ‘eat’ Durian in moderations – but a buffet? No chance! I rather eat my hat!
In fact the buffet is not actually that good, because the quality of the Durian, is not that good, the skins have cracked or there are the aged stock.
- The poorer quality stock!
- The so-so quality variety 🙂
- Durian – it’s my favourite fruit (not!)
- The length of the Durian diner!
- Durian Buffet for RM9 per person – bargain!
- Durian – Defo an Acquired Taste!
- A variety of Durian – they do stink!
- The Durian Varieties…
- Enjoying the moment…
We tried the D24, Raja Kunyit and Tekkah variety. You can recall from my other post, that the Raja Kunjit is the #1 variety type, with D24 being the another ‘premium’ variety! Yes the taste and texture is different – especially the creaminess and bitterness, but it doesn’t stop the aftertaste that for me lasts for hours. Just the aftertaste can make you sick, not to mention the bad breathe you have for the rest of the day! Luckily, I wasn’t planning to snog anyone that night – ha!
