Vietnam Holiday – Ho Chi Minh City: Day 1 Night-Life

Wow Ho Chi Minh City certainly has a great night-life! 🙂

I had been looking at recommendations on people’s lists on Foursquare and one place stuck out. It was called MZ Restaurant and Bar, so I decided to give it a go – both the restaurant and bar was recommended – with life music later on. I managed to find the place, it worked out to be around 15 minutes walk from my hostel. Although I was on my own, I knew I was going to have some fun – hahaha (well that was the aim, at least!).

I arrived at the restaurant and had a Lamb Curry, it tasted pretty good, the Saigon beer helped it go down very easily. After this I had a couple of Havana Club (Rum) and Cokes – to get myself into that party spirit! I got chatting to one of the waiters, and he explained that the first floor bar opens at 7pm, so I still had time to browse the area and return. I am glad I did.

When I left MZ Restaurant, I noticed a couple of places were there were some … well simply put … HOT ladies … on display. One can only imagine what services they were offering – soothing for the eyes at least!

I arrived back at my hostel, so I could have a quick shower and freshen up, as I didn’t to arrive at the bar too early, and I started to hear a lot of horns blaring, whistles and cheering. You usually hear some horns as the cars let the bikes know their intentions – but the volume during the evening was quite different. I went out and saw loads of locals flying the Vietnam flag and cheering very loudly, and the noise was amazing. I asked someone on the street, and they advised me that there was a football game which Vietnam had just won, so I googled it and realised it was a massive result and victory from Vietnam. They were playing Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in Jakatta against Burnei, and Vietnam had just won 8-0 – yes EIGHT nill! Brilliant, I was actually cheering with them 🙂

Anyway, I started to walk back to MZ Bar as it was around 10.30pm now. I passed a very nice car (Rolls Royce?) parked on the street – it looked immaculate – an absolutely gorgeous car!

I then entered MZ again, and you have to go through the restaurant to go up the stair-case at the rear to go to the Bar. The Bar was already in flow, so I asked for a table at the bar. This was perfect, as I could get chatting to the bar staff (yummy!) and some of the guests around the bar – and I did exactly this. The only problem is that the bar staff only spoke broken English, but I managed to get my Bacardi and Coke order understood, and then continued drinking that. A couple of French chaps to my left then invited me to help them with they Whiskey bottle, so I moved to that. They were a great fun, and we got chatting and they were spoke Vietnamese so helped when we started to chat with the bar staff. In fact, one of the bar-maids was pretty cute, so we had a bit of fun between all of us…I must admit she was so photogenic when it came to photos. I am coming to think Vietnamese are far superior (prettier) compared with Singaporian girls / ladies – ohhh how controversial, hey? Actually to be fair, I think it’s tough to compare them – lol 🙂

Before we realised it, it was just gone 2am and we were the last at the bar. Now THAT’s how you can tell if it is a good night! Haha. So we decided to leave, we said our fond farewells, but we agreed to catch-up tomorrow at the same place – why break a winning formula – lol 🙂
