Well on Saturday, I wanted to take advantage of a free afternoon, so prior to going to the Dress Rehearsals of the Singapore National Day in Marina Bay, I decided to go to China Town first and stroll around to see the sights and sounds of this area.
I wasn’t disappointed. Although I only had a couple of hours, I think I will definitely come back late afternoon as I believe the place comes to life at night 🙂 There is a whole street full of hawker stalls, another for food, so I think the place is amazing.
Here are some photos of the stroll around the area:
- Looking down across one of the open-air areas in China Town
- The colonial architecture was very picturesque!
- Very chinese…no?
- Lanteen’s galore…
- Beach ball 🙂 … well not quite …
- “Beaver” ball…actually!
- Was almost tempted 🙂
- The building the Sri Mariamman Temple
- Fans galore…well they “look” nice
- Sri Mariamman Temple – amazing sight!
- Pagoda Street – the street / hawkers stalls street!
- Looking up at the Sri Mariamman Temple
- Very intriciate designs!
- Yummy BBQ Pork – well I do “sample” the products every time I pass one of these shops…
- I’ve got one of these 🙂
- And the ladies variety – very nice on the right lady! 🙂
- 1, 2, 3… altogether … Ahhhh cute!!
- Not sure if this would be in-line with my excess baggage allowance 🙂
- Did someone mention Food Street – oh yes!!!
- Ergh I think it comes to live at night….it was only 3pm when I browsed down the street! Reminds me that I must come back again later! 🙂
- Nice designs – not sure what this says – lol…
- Duty Free – hahaha!
- More shops and food outlets 🙂
- Ever wondered what MacDonald’s was in Chinese…fear no longer…the answer is in the pic!
I also noticed that there was a place called “Lim Chee Cuan” which served nothing but the delicious BBQ ‘Red’ Meat; it was popular with a fair number of locals – there was a queue outside the shop – so I think I will come back and also try this place out too 🙂 Go and eat where the locals eat, right?
