Well the Singaporian National Day is the main event of the year, and a lot of preparation seems to have gone into the celebrations – which are largely focused in the Marina Bay area.
I was told that there was a practice (rehearsal) each Saturday evening starting around 6pm and lasting for 3 hours when the climax of the evening is displayed – as part of an amazing fireworks display across the Bay.
So I joined a work colleague and joined the funness last Saturday. Here are some of the key photos taken of the events:
- Marina Bay Sands and the Art Science Museum in all its glory!
- The Art Science Museum with the Singapore Flyer in the backdrop – navy boats at the forefront.
- Close-up of the Marina Bay Sands
- Marina Bay being prepared for the show…
- The Grand Stand, Float and Navy are all set for the rehearsal to commence 🙂
- The parachutists fly in…
- Beautiful skies, beautiful trails…
- Will he land on the X!? 🙂
- X definitely marked the spot – good job! Ha!
- The Navy boats on display
- The air force in all its glory
- Flying in front of the Sands
- This manoeuvre was perfect – hoovering and something/someone jumped out 🙂
- The Chinook doing its stuff!
- Chinook flying in front of the Sands
- It lowered itself gently …
- Almost touching the water, as it makes an air-drop out of the back.
- The Chinook flying behind the Arts Science museum and the Flyer
- An gunship flying over head (very fast!)
- Wow – what a sight!
- The effects are starting up – right on cue (I think!)!
- The best view must have been from the top of the Sands!
- The Navy in display.
- Flying the flag…
- The Air Force on display – the roar was just … well… thunderous 🙂
- The after drinks – Mojito galore…
- Even the fireworks display was rehearsed 🙂
- Bang…
- Wow…
- Ohhhh….
- Ahhhhh…
- Luvly, smashing….great!!!
Now, I must remember to attend the actual one – I just hope I am able to get a ticket to be in the grandstand to see it for real! 🙂
