I was invited to a family friend’s meal in Bukit Batok on the evening of Sunday, 17th July, so I decided to take advantage of this trip and come a couple of hours early and extend the journey to the Chinese and Japanese Gardens at Jurong East.
The MRT journey was actually long, so the location of Jurong East seemingly felt that it was a quite a way out to the West of Singapore City, but the MRT did at the very least go overground for the latter portions of the journey, which enabled me to enjoy the sights around the area en route to the final destination. I can now state that I’ve completed the whole journey on the MRT red-line which starts from Marina Bay and ends at Jurong East. Ha!
It was actually quite warm and sunny again (that’s the normal weather btw!), so I only managed to venture around the China Gardens as I started to suffer – ha! It was certainly a great visit though. The gardens were nice and intricate, although the Bonsai Gardens (that bit was in the Chinese Garens though seemingly should have probably been based in the Japanese one!?) were closed for renovation, which was a bit of a bummer, but alas I had plenty of other bits to see in and around the Gardens. The Turtle and Tortoise museum had a $5 admission charge, so as I only had a limited amount of time, I decided to give it a miss (that and I was running out of cash – ha!). I might go there when I return to visit the Japanese side of the Gardens another time.
Anyway, here’s a selection of photos of the Chinese Gardens. Hope you are enjoying my photos so far 🙂
