Good news – I have today collected my repaired G10 camera, with a pristine LCD display. There was one dead pixel on the old (now ruined) screen before I dropped it, so it kinda solved two problems (one was slightly bigger than a dead pixel though!) – ha!
One happy bunny. It only cost me S$180 (about £90), I guess the magic question is whether to claim this from my insurance, or simply accept the cost. We’ll see.
This has still made me feel like I want to upgrade in any case, so might still ‘investigate’ the costs of a new Canon EOS SLR Camera. I was looking at the 1000D or the 600D – more inclined for the latter. These are basically the entry-level SLRs in the Canon range, they move from the Bridge-SLR (the D10, D11, and D12 models) to a full-blown SLR, but gives me an opportunity to improve my (current) photography skills further, without going overboard with the camera specs to the other extreme. And looking at the prices quoted from some of the extensive SLR models, you can certainly do so – ouch!! 🙂
