Nice Bird Legs (at the Park!)

Well they say they have very nice legs, and I must admit these particular birds had very pleasant legs indeed!  I’m talking about the Singapore Jurong Bird Park, of course!

I was keen to visit the 3 linked sites of the Bird Park, the Zoo and the Night Safari – I guess the 3 must-dos in Singapore.  So on Saturday, I decided to visit the Bird Park first with the possibility of doing the Zoo and Night Safari (the last two are located near each other) later on.  That was the plan anyway.

I went on the MRT to Boon Lay, and transferred at the Boon Lay Bus Interchange on the SBS Number 251.  It went all the way to the Bird Park – perfect!

Upon arrival I purchased the 3-way ticket-pass, for the 3 attractions – all for S$58  (approximately £34) – not bad methinks all-in-all.

So I decided to go around the Bird Park, starting at the Penguin Coast, to the East-path to the Flamingo Pool, Wedlands and Flamingo Lake.  I continued around to the Pelican Cove and Parrot Paradise, and it was here that I noted that my camera battery was dying on me.  It started to flash the ‘low battery’ warning symbol – grrr – how could I forget to charge or change the battery.  Anyway, I then thought about speeding up on my tour, and decided against visiting the other 2 attractions.  The 3-way ticket is valid for 1-month, so there is no immediate rush, at least.  I continued my tour and visited the African Waterfall Aviary, Swan lake, Dinosaur Descendants, Bird Discovery Centre, Jungle Jewels, Birds of Prey, Lory Loft, Hornbills & Toucans, Window on Paradise.  I then looked up and noticed that the skies were darkening very quickly and I saw that it was starting to spit.  It definitely felt like a storm was brewing, so I had to speed up the tour, or at least see whether I could duck under a shelter if the skies suddenly opened.  It seemed to hold-off for the moment, so I continued by visiting the Royal Ramble, Scarlet Ibis and the Shore Birds, before visiting the Heliconia Walk, Spoonbills and lastly the World of Darkness.

Phew – what a tour!

My battery packed up for good at the Spoonbills display, which was a real bummer, but I guess this also meant to go home and relax.  So I took a Taxi to the Boon Lay MRT, and re-tracked my journey back to Orchard (my second home!).

Enjoy the pics in any case!
