What a nice place we found on Level 6 of the Pavilion Mall, which is the main shopping mall next to our hotel.
The Market Hall presence is near to the TGI Friday and Din Tai Fung, to name a couple. Market Hall apparently only opened earlier this year, and it looks quite interesting inside. it’s kinda like a Delicatessen-turn-Restaurant, with the decor showing the selection of wines, spices, sauaces and fresh produce – all on display (I think you can simply come in a buy the products off the shelf!). The kitchen is an open-plan design – situated down the whole length of the restaurant – it’s almost as if the kichen is part of the restaurant. It seems to work, and even though there was only a couple of tables at the time (we had visited before the Ramadan Fasting had been completed), the atmosphere was actually quite nice!
We started with a Scallops dish with a sprinkle of Bacon. There were only 3 Scallops, but the presentation was really nice. I think the spoon on the side had Olive Pate, but not sure! I was keen to try out the Pizza, this place had a real brick oven, and the Calzone sounded delicious. The way they served the Calzone Pizza was intriguing, it was served on a wooden chopping board, which actually made it like a nice way of presenting it. Small thing, but it kinda worked.
The restaurant was also doing a wine tasting event, so offered us a taster of two of the wine. Can’t remember which grapes or type of wine, but it was a nice way to cleanse the pallet 🙂 Even the table had a bit of life to it – it had ‘worn’ holes. Not sure about this though, but I guess it’s part of the overall atmosphere of this place.
