Mar Jongg – practice makes perfect as they say :)

We’ll another fun weekend with a Marjongg session – to see if my game has improved…and yup it only just about improves.

One of the work colleagues arranged a short gathering (for fun, of course – no gambling involved, cos that’s illegal here in Singapore – haha!) – and I think I am finally getting the hang of the game again.  The only issue is that the Singapore game has a few more tiles – which really confuses the hell out of me.  But alas, practice makes perfect.

Overall I won a few games, and lost a few more…haha!  Not easy to improve at a game without sufficient practice, so I best get more games in…and it actually is quite good fun too!

Well it was something I was checking out for a while having seen it at a friend’s place – and my mum was keen to get one – so I decided to go visit a place in town and try to buy one.

I found a place on a website, it seems to be an wholesaler and distributor, but it also allowed ‘walk-in’ customers, so I thought I’d give it a go. It was in a business park, so finding it was a bit of a challenge, but once I located the building, I located the unit location. I took a taxi from work, and arrived at Playfield Road in Tai Seng district. The one I saw on the website was S$198 – and the table top size was 36″ x 36″.  The table was called ‘SHP Solid Wood Folding Mahjongg Table’.

When I arrived, they had one in stock, and when I saw it, I looked a bit surprised on the size of the thing. I could carry it, but it was quite awkward to carry. I took the table and booked a taxi back to my apartment – I had to put it on the backseat, luckily it fit (another nightmare moment). Then I had the thought of how I was going to get it to the UK…hmmm…

I weighed the item, and it was just over 9 kilos, so I knew I had to be careful on how much luggage I would carry back to the UK…luckily my allowance was 30kg on Emirates. I think I will just try to put it in the hold in the box and ‘fingers crossed’ that it arrives in one piece 🙂

But It was a nice table and I am sure it will arrive safely!! Haha!

Dirt PS3 Game

Well I was invited around to a mate’s place and he was playing Forza Horizon on the Xbox 360, and after viewing the amazing graphics and the gameplay, I decided that I should ‘invest’ in a similar but competing game for my PS3.

I looked at Grand Turismo 6, Dirt 3, Grid 2, Need for Speed, WRC 3 and GTA5. I believer that Grand Turismo 6 and GTA5 are in a class of their own, but their game play relates to their classic gameplay style. What I wanted was more of a racing game but similar to Forza Horizon had a of road-race challenges in the mix, so I found that Dirt 3 was the closest on offer on the PS3.

The next challenge was to find a place nearby in Singapore, I did a quick Google search and found a few putty close by…well close as in Orchard area. FunzSquare was down Scott’s Road in Far East Plaza, another called Qisahn.com in Far East Shopping Centre and lastly another one called FunzCentre in Orchard Centre, the last two both in Orchard Road.

I decided to venture to Far East Plaza, and after walking around the mall for about 10 minutes, I located the place. The item was around £30 on Amazon.co.uk and it cost around S$64 – so around the same price, a few quid more, but not too bad.

I just hope I have time to play it and improve 🙂
